An Overwhelming Wall of Boxes

An overwhelming wall of boxes greeted me when I consulted with this client last fall. It wasn’t just a wall; it was a whole room filled with boxes, and there were more in the adjacent room. The client’s basement flooded, and everything had been packed for the restoration project; most of the boxes were from the client’s office. When the boxes were returned, she and her spouse were overwhelmed at the prospect of unpacking ALL.THOSE.BOXES. (Wouldn’t you be? The packing bill listed over 200 boxes!)

The client hired Spirit & Space to help her unpack. One of the biggest challenges?  As we unpacked, we couldn’t put anything away until the boxes were gone. It took us 21 hours to get through the first sorting; since none of the boxes were labeled and the packing wasn’t organized, we had to open each box and sort the items into other boxes for a second sorting. The client has large collections of everything from books to craft supplies, rocks to candles and display items, and they were all jumbled up in those boxes. Now she can finally reclaim her space and begin to find homes for everything. Through the process we were delighted to find takers for almost all of those boxes and packing paper. There’s still a lot to do before the client has her space set up the way she wants it, but she no longer feels overwhelmed. Helping hands made all the difference!
