When Things Break, Opportunity Awaits

Things break.

Last month, my husband was in our home alone when he heard a crash in the kitchen. Turns out the top shelf in the cabinet where we keep our glasses had fallen, taking with it the remainder of my mother‘s wedding crystal. We had eight water goblets and loved using them when setting a nice table.

I was disappointed about the crystal. But things break, right? There’s no use in spending a lot of time crying over broken crystal.

The upside? The hunt for replacements at a favorite local vintage store. The Vintage 54 Collective reopened yesterday after renovations. I love this store! The dealers do a fabulous job assembling unique and eclectic lots, offering all kinds of treasures for shoppers. It’s also a really nice shopping experience, with beautiful displays and good music, often chocolate on the counter, occasional evening receptions with beverages and snacks. I’m looking forward to finding replacement water goblets at Vintage 54.

Do you have vintage items you’re hoping to sell? We work with a variety of dealers in the Indy area. Dishes and glassware can be hard to sell; a lot depends on the pattern and condition, as well as the size of the lot. It’s hard to present a succinct list of what we can sell to our dealers, as there is such a wide variety. Dealers keep a close eye on what’s moving, as shoppers’ interests are continually changing.

Looking for vintage delights of your own? Check out Vintage 54!
