“So how do you work with clients?”

After a presentation at a local church on finding peace and calm at home, a prospective client inquired further about Spirit & Space. “So how do you work with clients?” It depends on the project – is it downsizing, decluttering, organizing, move management, or a bit of everything? Are we working on living or storage spaces, residential or business? Each project is different, just as clients are different.

There are some consistent aspects to the way Spirit & Space team members work with our clients:

  • We listen carefully to the client’s needs and challenges, meeting them where they are and asking questions to help guide the work. For instance, in a kitchen we might ask who does the most cooking and how the family uses the space; we’ll pay close attention to height differentials among family members, noting who needs to reach what.

  • We ask about the pain points, those critical areas that really aren’t working for the client.

  • ·For decluttering, we ask questions to help the client make decisions about items. When did you last use it? When might you use it again? Do you love it? These are just examples; we try hard to tailor our support to the client’s specific situation.

  • For a downsizing project, we partner with the client as they plan the move, nurturing a realistic assessment of what will be needed in the smaller space. We can even craft a three-dimensional picture of the space with sample furnishings, helping the client envision what the new space will be like and how their belongings will fit.

For many the assistance with the physical part of handling, sorting, and packing items is a lifesaver. For others the process of accompanying them in their work and providing accountability is essential to success. Our aim is to come alongside the client and help them accomplish their organizing goals in a way that lifts their spirits. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to that.
