“Recycling at its Best”

It’s a joy to help clients find outlets for their goods; it’s one of the things I like most about Spirit & Space.  Yes, there’s plenty of organizing and space planning, decluttering and bringing order to chaos as I work with clients and help them accomplish their goals.  Through that work most clients identify items they no longer need which still have life in them.  Bed linens, tables and chairs from an Indy client went to Exodus Refugee International for families establishing homes.  Surplus school and office supplies from a family of four went to Teachers Treasures to support public school teachers in Indianapolis.  Boxes of books went to nonprofit Indy Reads, household goods to AmVets in Delaware, business clothing to Dress for Success Indy. Clients in Delaware and Colorado gave surplus toiletries to homeless shelters.

One of my current clients is sorting through years of clothing, preparing a large donation for veterans who are homeless and/or seeking employment. Through his own research he identified nonprofits in Indy that work with veterans. Among the shirts he no longer wears is one emblazoned with a logo for “St. Paw’s” from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Indy. I’ve been a member of St. Paul’s for almost 11 years, and I’d never heard about St. Paw’s.  The client couldn’t exactly recall its origin, but perhaps one of my Indy followers knows the story – if so, please share!  I love hearing the stories clients tell of special items we’re working with.

Do you know of a great nonprofit that needs items we might find through decluttering?  Please let me know about them; I’d love to help clients support other great organizations.
