Frigscaping and Other Quick Dopamine Hits
Have you heard of “fridgescaping”? It’s the art of decorating the interior of your refrigerator for aesthetic appeal. Sound crazy to you? Maybe. But fridgscaping is a thing! The New York Times just published an article about it: Not Even the Inside of Your Fridge Is Safe From Decorating.
As noted in the article, Heather Goerzen of online design service Havenly says that organizing something in an aesthetically pleasing way is one of those “small, easy wins…And visual satisfaction can produce within us that little dopamine hit.”
So how can you get a quick feel-good dopamine hit through organizing? Try these ideas:
Clean off the top of your dresser or desk; arrange what’s staying there in a way that pleases you.
Sort the mail pile.
Organize a drawer.
Make your bed.
Remove trash and recycling from floors and surfaces.
Clean out the inside of your car.
Tidy up your dresser drawers.
Clean off the kitchen counters and wipe them down.
Straighten where you enter your home.
Organize your frig…and hey, if it’s your thing, aim for an Instagram-worthy visual you can share with the world!
