Delightful Vintage Treasures

“What a privilege!” That was the first thing Ginny said as she held up the Victorian wedding dress. It had been tucked away in a vintage suitcase, hidden in the attic for decades, complete with veil and crinoline.

We were working in the attic of one of our longtime clients, tackling the last corner in one of three attics on the property. The client has been diligently decluttering and sorting, not wanting to leave his daughter with a mess like the one he inherited from his parents.

In our decluttering and organizing work, we run across all sorts of treasures…and yes, a lot of junk too. But when we happen upon unique items like this wedding dress, it truly does feel like a privilege to unearth the past with our clients, many of whom aren’t aware of the treasures lurking under their roofs.

From this lot we were able to sell eight of the vintage suitcases to local dealers. Another eight were in decent shape and could be donated. The rest filled trash bins up and down the street!

We do all we can to put usable items into the hands of people who will give them new life. This dress went to a dealer with a vintage clothing booth; maybe it will make a bride’s dream come true this year!
