Can we talk about the bathroom?
Sure, it’s a rather indelicate topic. But hey, we spend a lot of time there, and it’s a place that can raise stress if it’s messy and cluttered and full of stuff you don’t use – not a good space to ensure you’re at your best each day! Make time to reassess how you use the space and what you need to look and feel your best.
Declutter first. – This is typically easy in the bathroom; most folks have lots of expired and unused products they can throw away. Pull everything out, sort it, and get rid of stuff you don’t use or need.
Clean the drawers and cabinets. – Whether it’s leaking product or grimey fingerprints from years of neglect, wipe it all away and start fresh! You’ll feel so much better.
Organize effectively. – Here’s a great space for organizing products, and you can easily find inexpensive options. Drawer bins and dividers help corral small items (makeup, razors). Keep similar products together (hair care, skin care, first aid). Minimize counter clutter; only keep daily essentials on the counter (soap and toothbrushes) and store everything else out of sight. Tuck less frequently used items and backups further away. Organizing things will help you know what you have so you don’t overbuy. Bins made a big difference in this cabinet:
Utilize vertical space. – Remember to use the vertical spaces under sinks, in closets, over the door, and even in drawers (double layered acrylic organizers, anyone?). Pictured below is a bathroom that was transformed by a system of organizers; it created a lot more storage space, and made it so easy for the clients to find and put things away. (Labels can be super helpful, especially if organizers aren’t clear.)
Create order that pleases your eye. – Are aesthetics important to you? A little effort goes a long way here. In addition to using attractive organizing products, you might use a pretty tray on the counter for daily items, put brushes and lipsticks in pretty cups in the drawer (I use several silver plated baby cups), or store towels in color order. Be creative about ideas that would be visually pleasing to your eye and bring a bit of joy in your routine.
By following these tips, you can create a functional and stylish bathroom space that makes your daily routine smoother!
